The History of St. Hilary's
1950 - 1960

Miss Ethel Dawson became the new headmistress in 1950 and on October 18th 1955 St. Hilary's became part of the Woodard Corporation. Miss Adcock and Miss Gliddon were asked to join the Governors, a post which they held for a further 21 years.

A School banner was made and dedicated in 1956.

In 1957 a new School building was purchased - 'Westwood' (the next building up the road from 'Alma Terrace')

In 1960 Miss Dawson retired. Throughout her ten years, she had set before the School her own ideals of work and service. Pupils who had passed through the School during her time remembered her keen personal interest in them, as they prepared to take their place in varying walks of life.
