The History of St. Hilary's
1960 - 1976

Miss Isobel Kinsey was welcomed to the School as the new Headmistress arriving from another Woodard School, Abbot's Bromley.

'Barnfield'

In 1962 the School attained one of its ambitions by purchasing 'Barnfield', the house next door to 'Westwood'. At last all the buildings were together on one site. The boarders and the Preparatory Department were moved from 'Hurst Lea' which was then sold.

1966 saw the completion of the magnificent new Hall and two tennis courts were built in the grounds between the two houses.

New Classroom Block 1973

Between the years of 1970 and 1974 a new classroom block and science block were built but tragically the School Chapel burnt down. However, with the generosity of parents and friends a new one was soon built and furnished.

In 1976 Miss Kinsey retired. The School had seen many major developments during this period. Her charismatic personality and charm, combined with a great presence, inspired all those who knew her.
